Book A Test Drive

With the variety of refined vehicles available at Audi, it's no surprise buyers have questions on which one(s) to purchase. And between the A6 and A7, there are several factors that separate the two, but they also share features.
To help on your journey to a new Audi, we explain the basic differences and similarities between the A6 and A7.
The A6 and A7 each have distinct styles and functions
The A6 family offers the Sedan, allroad, S6 Sedan and RS 6 Avant. The A6 and S6 sedans reach out to luxury car owners who want a modern four-door design without the extra size. Although it has the same profile as the A6, the S6 adds sporty features and performance. The allroad quattro and Avant both change the rear to add additional cargo space and a tailgate while maintaining a sporty profile. This adds functionality without unnecessary crossover bulk.
The A7 Sportback lineup is more edgy and adventurous. It offers a stunning and unique profile that is unmatched. If you prefer a sportier presentation, the A7 Sportback lineup fills that need. Models included in the A7 family are the Sportback, TFSI e, S7 and RS 7. These Sportback sedans offer more cargo volume than their A6 sedan counterparts.
Comparing the A6 and A7 powertrains
The A6 Sedan begins its powertrain lineup with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder (45 TFSI) that outputs 261 horsepower and a very responsive 273 lb-ft of torque. The A6 Sedan also offers the 55 TFSI that produces 335 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, delivering performance that's impressive for any vehicle in the Audi A class. You can have this engine in the A6 Sedan, and it is also standard in the A6 allroad.
The S6 Sedan moves up to a turbocharged V6 with 444 horsepower, and the RS 6 Avant injects the A6 lineup with a turbo V8 with 591 horsepower.
The A7 Sportback model offers the 335-hp 55 TFSI powertrain like the A6. If you want a hybrid, the TFSI e includes a hybrid system that outputs 362 horsepower while enhancing efficiency. The S7 and RS 7 share the same engines as their S6 and RS 6 counterparts.
