2018 Audi S3: The rebel in a three-piece suit
If there’s one thing the Audi S3 does well, it’s performance. However, that’s not its only calling card, oh no. The 2018 Audi S3 is more than just a sum of its performance parts. This vehicle is a feat in engineering and design, from nose to tail.
The 2018 Audi S3 wears its muscular and sporty exterior like a well-tailored suit. Sporting Audi’s signature linear front grille along with standard LED headlights and taillights, the S3’s exterior look is both sophisticated and kind of rebellious. Slightly flared wheel arches allude to the car’s performance capabilities, and available red brake calipers add to that aura.
Unique to the 2018 Audi S3’s exterior are exclusive quad exhaust pipes, aluminum finish side mirrors, and S bumpers. There’s also an available Black Optics package, which features a high gloss black grille and window trims, and body-colour side mirrors.
Now, about that performance: The 2018 Audi S3 comes equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged engine that produces 292 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. From a standstill, you’ll hit the 100km/hr mark in just 4.8 seconds with the help of Audi’s 7-speed S-Tronic automatic transmission and Quattro AWD, that both come standard. The Audi S3 will hit a top speed of 250km/hr and averages 9.6L/100km combined.
An optional magnetic suspension system is available, and the 2018 Audi S3 features Drive Select that changes the ride quality and handling dependent on the situation and driver’s choice, of course.
Inside, you’ll find Audi’s Virtual Cockpit (with the larger 12.3” version available) that features a unique centre-mounted tachometer that’s only found on the Audi S3 model. You’ll also find a flat-bottom steering wheel with pebble shifters, and available S sport seats. Nappa leather also comes standard.
Available safety features include optional lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go.
