A Debut Like No Other.

The 2026 season marks a historic turning point. For the first time, Audi joins the Formula 1® grid as a full factory works team—the Audi Revolut F1® Team. This isn't just about racing; it’s about a relentless pursuit of innovation that will eventually find its way into the Audi you drive home from our South Calgary showroom.

The R26

The R26.

Audi signalled the dawn of a new era, unveiling their full Formula 1® contender the R26 at a breathtaking event set within a historic power station in the heart of Berlin. With the integration of the new regulations for the 2026 season, the R26 is powered by a 1.6 litre V6 combustion engine with a enhanced electric motor producing over 1,000bhp combined. The regulations also introduced the cars to run on fully sustainable fuel. The R26 features a lava red, titanium and carbon fibre livery that truly aligns with the brand's symbolic design pedigree: clear, intelligent, emotional and technical.

Audi Formula 1 Team

The Drivers.

Nico Hülkenberg (#27) anchors the team as a seasoned veteran. With over 250 Grand Prix starts, he brings unparalleled technical precision and leadership to the track. Qualities further proven by his hard-fought maiden podium at Silverstone last season. He is paired with Gabriel Bortoleto (#5), the 2024 F2 Champion. As a breakout star of his generation, Bortoleto joins the grid ready to translate his championship pedigree to the world stage.

Audi Team Principal

The Team Principal.

Leading the Audi Revolut F1® Team is Team Principal Jonathan Wheatley. Serving as the primary spokesperson for Audi Motorsport AG, Wheatley oversees all trackside race operations. His role is pivotal in navigating the high-stakes world of F1® strategy, representing the Four Rings in the sport's most influential leadership forums.

Interior of the Q5

The Heart of the Innovation: Neuburg, Germany.

The Audi Power Unit is being brought to life at the world-class Competence Center Motorsport in Neuburg an der Donau. Since 2022, Audi Formula Racing GmbH has utilized this cutting-edge facility to develop a powertrain that defines the future of racing. To meet the demands of Formula 1®, the site originally opened in 2014 and was expanded with a massive 3,000-square-meter facility dedicated to high-performance test benches and technical workstations. Every component of the Audi Power Unit is designed and manufactured here, integrating a highly efficient combustion engine and gearbox with a sophisticated energy recovery system, battery, and control unit.

Global Reach: Bicester, England.

To ensure a competitive edge, Audi launched its UK Technology Centre in 2025 within Bicester's expansive 179-hectare industrial campus. Located in the famous "Motorsport Valley" near Silverstone, this hub provides the team with direct access to the world’s premier racing talent and technical infrastructure. It also places Audi alongside major automotive innovators and Motorsport UK, the nation’s governing body for the sport.

A Powerhouse Partnership: Hinwil, Switzerland.

The Audi Revolut F1® Team represents a masterclass in collaboration. While the power unit is born in Germany, the race car itself is engineered at the legendary Hinwil factory in Switzerland. Located just outside Zurich, this facility serves as the team's operational hub for the 2026 season and beyond. By fully acquiring the Sauber Group—a name synonymous with Formula 1® excellence since 1993. Audi has integrated over 30 years of elite racing experience into its DNA. This strategic foundation, bolstered by the full acquisition in 2025 and the inclusion of Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund as a key investor, ensures Audi enters the grid with the resources and expertise to compete at the highest level.
