The Audi Q5 is the most popular model in the segment namely because it has so much to offer in terms of performance, technologies and capabilities in a stylish package that handles the road like no other. It comes in several variants that cover a wide variety of needs. Some rivals in the segment desperately try to emulate the Audi Q5’s success, but it is so much in advance that they fail in key areas.

Here, we compare the 2022 Audi Q5 with the 2022 Infiniti QX50.

More performance and choice under the hood of the 2022 Audi Q5

Under the hood of the Audi Q5, you will find 2.0-litre, four cylinder turbocharged engine that outputs 261 horsepower and 273 lb ft of torque. This engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission that delivers the power to all four wheels thanks to Audi’s Quattro AWD system.

The Infiniti QX50 only has one engine choice. It is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with an output of 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Although this is very similar when compared to the Q5’s base engine, it uses a continuously variable transmission which impacts driveability. On top of this, it is less efficient in terms of fuel consumption in the city.

The Q5 lineup offers a plug-in hybrid version. This PHEV is very powerful thanks to 362 horsepower, but it also delivers outstanding combined fuel consumption of 3.9 L/100 km. You can also plug it in and enjoy 37 kilometres of range free of fuel. The QX50 doesn’t have a PHEV or even a hybrid version.

The SQ5 is the sportiest member of the Q5 lineup. Thanks to its turbocharged six-cylinder 3.0-litre engine, it sends 349 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. The QX50 doesn’t have a high-performance variant to compete.

Space and technology inside the 2022 Audi Q5

The 2022 Audi Q5 offers the driver and passengers a unique driving experience thanks to enhanced textures, materials and comforts that you can only find in an Audi. Also, the infotainment technologies it includes are the most advanced you can find thanks in part to the MMI system.

The QX50, on the other hand, uses an outdated infotainment technology that makes it hard to use.
