The 2021 Audi Q5 features better standard powertrains The Q5 features two engine options that cover a wide range of power and response. Standard in the Komfort model and optional in the Progressiv and Technik, the 45 TFSI is a turbocharged 2.0-litre that produces 261 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The Progressiv and Technik also offer the 55 TFSI e, a plug-in hybrid engine that pushes the envelope at 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.

 

The XC60 offers multiple engines. The first is the T5, a turbocharged 2.0-litre, four-cylinder that generates 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Compared to the Q5's 45 TFSI, the T5 doesn't quite reach its level of performance. The T5-equipped XC60 has an MSRP that is nearly identical to the base Q5 at $46,350, but the Q5 offers more capability.

 

The XC60's T6 engine increases horsepower to 316 and torque to 295 lb-ft, but it obviously doesn't reach the performance of the Q5's 55 TFSI e-equipped models.

 

The XC60 has a T8 hybrid system that increases horsepower to 415 and torque to 494 lb-ft in the Polestar Engineered model. Although this delivers more power than the Q5's 55 TFSI e, expect to pay nearly $20,000 more in MSRP. Moreover, it offers less full-electric range than the Q5’s hybrid option.

 

Overall, the Q5's powertrain options deliver more capability than the XC60's standard counterparts. Otherwise, you will have to purchase up to a significantly higher level with the competition.

 

 

The Q5 offers more front and rear headroom and rear shoulder room than the XC60. It also deploys more cargo space for your gear. With 711 litres when it is full of passengers, and 1504 litres when the rear seats are down, the Q5 is your partner in crime when it comes to transport. The XC60 only offers 598 litres and 1410 litres in the same configurations.
