Audi's New Electric Luxury SUV: The Q8 e-tron

 

The new Audi Q8 e-tron is an electric SUV that builds on the success of its predecessor, the e-tron quattro. It features a more efficient drivetrain, improved aerodynamics, and higher charging performance. Drivetrain

Audi's Q8 e-tron comes in two body shapes, SUV and Sportback, and two drivetrain variants with electric all-wheel drive. The base models, the Audi Q8 50 e-tron and Audi Q8 Sportback 50 e-tron come with two motors that generate 250 kW in boost mode and 664 Nm of torque. The SUV has a range of 491 km, while the Sportback has a range of 505 km, both in accordance with the WLTP. 

 

The Audi Q8 55 e-tron and Audi Q8 Sportback 55 e-tron also have two motors, but they generate 300 kW in boost mode and 664 Nm of torque. The SUV has a range of 582 km, while the Sportback has a range of 600 km, both in accordance with the WLTP. All models have a top speed of 200 km/h.

 

Aerodynamics

The Q8 e-tron has an improved Drag Coefficient (Cd) to 0.27 for the SUV version and 0.24 for the Sportback version. This is due to several factors: a more aerodynamic body, active air flaps in the front bumper, and a rear diffuser. 

 

Charging Performance

The Q8 e-tron can be charged with up to 170 kilowatts of direct current (DC). This allows the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 31 minutes. The Q8 e-tron can also be charged with up to 11 kilowatts of alternating current (AC). 

 

Interior

The Q8 e-tron's interior is outfitted with high-end amenities like the glass panorama roof and four-zone automatic climate control. The seats are highly adjustable and come with optional massage functions. There are also many different types of wood veneer inlays available. Audi's MMI touch response operating system is used, which has two large high-resolution displays. A lot of features can be activated through natural voice control or the Audi virtual cockpit.
